President Laureate

I cannot reveal my source, but I have it on good authority that you should go buy Iowa Electronic Market shares in Al Gore entering the race. If it happens and I'm the first place you read it with certainty, you must call me J.Bro King of Politics for one week.

I've been spreading this around a bit (without revealing anything about the source), and folks seem very excited! Did you know he's polling ahead of Edwards right now? Crazy!

Really? Wow. Now I want to know why you know this.

I WILL FLIP WITH EXCITEMENT if he does, indeed, join the race. I could really get behind him. My dream team:
- Gore for Prez
- Obama for vice Prez (give him some time to mature in the second seat)
- Kucinich for white house jester and sometime policy-maker (when it comes to the "Department of Peace" in particular)

I've been saying this for a while, and I stand by it:

Richardson will be the VP candidate, no matter who gets the nomination. He's Latino, from the Southwest, has tons of foreign-policy experience, and is totally nonthreatening (indeed, I think he's been running for VP the entire time - note that he doesn't really attack anyone).

Although Obama was my original pick, I think he's too charismatic (i.e. he'd overshadow the person at the top) - although that may be less of a problem with Gore now than it would have been in 2000! But I actually think Richardson would be a better strategic choice than Obama - if the Dems could solidify NM, CO, and maybe even AZ and/or NV, they'd be well on their way to overcoming their deficit in the South. I don't think Obama would have the same pull in guaranteeing long-term Dem support in places like MN, WI, and IL, which are geographically close to IL but politically quite different.

Oops - I meant IA not IL in that last list of states. IL is obviously quite similar to IL.

I beg to differ - I think IL and IL are quite distinct, and resent people who make suggestions to the contrary.
