Also in no particular order but with some commentary:

-The Arcade Fire, "Funeral," 2004 (one of those 'something new every time you hear it' CDs)

-Various Artists, "Garden State" (soundtrack), 2004 (it's rare that I think "I want this soundtrack...now!" multiple times during a movie - okay, not that rare seeing as there's another soundtrack on this list)

-Coldplay, "A Rush of Blood to the Head," 2002 (yes, it was overplayed, but I actually still can't get enough of it - I've given four songs from it five stars in iTunes)

-The Postal Service, "Give Up," 2003 (I had a hard time picking between this and the two most recent Death Cabs...)

-Yann Tiersen, "Amelie" (soundtrack), 2001 (the absolute perfect music when you're feeling contemplative)

I can think of albums but I have no idea when they were made. But I like all the ones that you and Spice have listed!

I had to look the dates up on Amazon...since I tend to be a bit behind J.Bro on these things, I always think albums have come out more recently than they have!

Um, yea. I just checked, like, 7 albums on Amazon only to find my favorite music is OLD. Did you realize that both Kid A and Cat Power's Covers Record were published in 2000? Anyhoo, here are other options:

Impossible Dream (2004) - Patty Griffin
Trouble (2004) - Ray Lamontagne
I'm Wide Awake It's Morning (2005) - Bright Eyes
Love And Theft (2001) - Bob Dylan
Garden State Sountrack ... I'm with Spice on this one.

No U2? I'm very disapointed, at least you don't have Heart's Greatest hits on your list
