That's super! Super...BALL!

These stills are from a new Sony commercial for the new Bravia hi-def TV. It was shot on a soundstage, which is a little disappointing, but still - who didn't want to do something like this when they were 12?

The full commercial is worth downloading (60 sec, 19mb)

Hi Jason, This commercial was not shot on a soundstage, so no need to be disappointed. It was really filmed here in San Francisco using real balls.

P.S. when are you coming to visit?

Dammit, the file won't play on my PC. I probably need a different codec or something... Oh well, I'll try at work.

I believe, in fact, that this ad may have been filmed outside my friends' (B&L's) apartment. They were out of town during some important ad filming, so I can't say for sure, but this looks a heck-o-a-lot like their block. For reals.

You're right, J.Po! As soon as I saw the photo, I thought "San Francisco." And then I was all confused, because it doesn't look like any of the also-very-distinguishable neighborhoods I spent time in. But it _totally_ looks like the Peru Ave. area!

It's too bad they didn't make the superballs out of resilin. I kind of like the ad. I heard about this when they were filming it in SF, and forgot all about it! The music is slick... I still say the best commercial ever was the nike one with Lance Armstrong when he was cycling all over the place and everywhere he went, people chased him. That music was great!

I wonder about that poor frog that was caught in the crossfire. Think he died by superball barrage? They did cut away from the frog very quickly.
